Our new member Miriam discovered the Broken Drummers on the Internet and thought it would be fun. Here is her story of the evening.
Twas not with Feet of Clay that I travelled to the Hoops and Grapes, but with anticipation of meeting fellow Discworld fans. I was not to be disappointed. Once I found the establishment licensed to sell intoxicating liquor, it was not difficult to spot the Lords & Ladies I was seeking. And a band of very merry Wyrd Sisters be they. Although I did not meet an Eric, I am fairly sure I have met the match of Ponder Stibbons and engaged in some conversations that would make the ageing wizards of UU proud.
Being from The Last Continent made for some engaging remarks on the land from where I hale, although I am still confused as to the giant lobster - by Jingo! I enjoyed the quiz immensely and will retain the memory of half the table shouting out in glee 'You Bastard'. After consumption of brewed hops it came time to find grub, a most enjoyable dinner was consumed (obviously the chef did not refer to Nanny Ogg's Cookbook), and far too much Chianti was glugged by yours truly, and that's The Truth. An eventful walk back in the rain to transportation led to a very soggy self managing to leap onto the last train home in true Rincewind style, losing my shoe at the last critical moment. Quite surprised not to hear the call of Guards! Guards!
The question arose a couple of times - am I familiar with the messiah's books, well - I might just be :) May we all live in Interesting Times !

The meeting was specially arranged so that Jean, from France, could attend. It was his last full day in England after spending a hectic couple of weeks at the Convention, sightseeing in London and Wadfest.
